"Purple and red fruit, herbs, olives and white pepper from the whole-bunch fermentation with a clean focused palate. 100% Whole bunch fermented and matured in a combination of 3000 liter foudre, concrete and old French oak for 10 months before being bottled unfined and lightly filtered and then given a Further 18 months bottle maturation before release.
This red wine will drink well now but should no doubt reward patience and only gain drinkability and complexity over the next decade or more." - Winemaker's notes

"The 2016 Keermont Amphitheatre, a Bordeaux blend matured in seasoned oak for 20 months, has a pretty, floral bouquet with raspberry, wild strawberry and a very light lavender scent that percolates through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy opening, fine acidity, decent structure and grip with a lightly spiced finish. "The 2019 Anwilka is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Syrah. The nose opens with subtle Syrah notes of red peppercorn and smoked meats before moving to dusty red and black fruit aromas. Full-bodied, layered and fresh, the palate reveals the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, with soft herbal essences, bitter black tea and delicate olive notes. Graphite and pencil shavings follow across the mid-palate. The wine continues to unwind over the long lingering, mineral-laced, food-friendly finish. "Riding the line between the New World and Old World expressions, the 2017 Anwilka begins with aromas of dusty blackberry, ripe plum, cedar and cigar spice before notions of graphite, sage and wet river rocks waft from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, it has a ripe yet rustic mouthfeel, energetic acidity and fine-grained tannins that lift the mid-palate. As the wine sits in the mouth, it continues to somersault and reveal its elegance and complexity over the persistent and elongated finish. This blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petit Verdot rested for 19 months in French oak, of which 50% were first fill. "The 2013 Anwilka is a blend of 62% Syrah, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Petit Verdot. It has an attractive raspberry coulis and crushed strawberry bouquet with well-integrated oak. The palate is smooth on the entry with supple red berry fruit laced with bay leaf and clove, leading to a very composed finish that seems more elegant and refined than previous vintages. "The 2012 Anwilka is a blend of 87% Shiraz and 13% Cabernet Sauvignon matured in 50% new oak. It has a very pure and well defined bouquet with ebullient blackberry and cedar scents, quite strict at the moment but nicely focused and integrated with the wood. The palate is well balanced with supple tannin, very well judged acidity, and there is a pleasant chewiness in the mouth with rosemary and sage towards the finish. This is a well crafted Anwilka that will benefit from 2-3 years in bottle." - Anthony Mueller, The Wine Advocate

"This wine started way back - I bottled a straight 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon from a friend’s farm. The wine was big, but I loved it. After bottling, the Department of Agriculture came back with the final analysis. An alcohol of 16.14% - GOODNESS?! I stacked the wine in the back of the warehouse, not sure what to do with it. I then had a tasting at the Hinterhofkabuff with a German guy called Martin Baulmann, who subsequently became my agent in Germany. We tasted all my wines and at the end he asked me if I had something big for him to taste. "How do you mean; BIG?", I asked. "In colour, extraction, tannin?..."." Like in 15% alcohol...", he replied. "I think I have something even better for you" I said. So I opened a still unlabelled bottle and poured him a glass of what I was planning to name Midnight Call. He loved it and wanted to buy everything. For those of you who do not know Martin: He has a big frame, laughs loudly, and lives large. So afterwards I sat in the Hinterhofkabuff drinking a glass, thinking of this very big guy that loved this very loud wine. It seemed natural to change the name to THE BOMB." Winemaker's notes

"Elpidios is a red version of Aristargos in a sense, using five varieties from nine different vineyards. Fermented with 40% whole bunches, it's dominated by Grenache, supported by 31% Syrah, 13% Carignan and 1% each of Pinotage and Cinsault. Stony, grippy and chiselled, it has savoury tannins, lots of granitic intensity and plum, red berry and cranberry flavours. Will age well, too." - Tim Atkin MW
