Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie “Clos Vernay” 2021
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie “Clos Vernay” 20221, “A slightly riper yet cool and wonderfully fresh nose combines notes of spice and pepper with those of both red and dark gamay fruit. There is solid volume and lovely mid-palate density, though here too the finish is a bit lean with a touch of asperity.”– Allen Meadows, Burghound
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie 2018
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie 2018 "A slightly more elegant is otherwise similar aromatic profile introduces punchy, well-detailed and lightly mineral-inflected flavors that also deliver excellent length and depth on the slightly more firmly structured finale. This too is worth your interest." - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Alain Voge Cornas Les Vieilles Fontaines 2020
Alain Voge Cornas Les Chailles 2021
"The younger vine cuvée from this great estate is the 2021 Cornas Les Chailles, which is from a mix of terroirs. Its deeper ruby hue is followed by a solid perfume of ripe blackberries, red plums, ground pepper, and flowery incense. This carries to a medium-bodied Cornas with bright acidity, a supple, layered mouthfeel, and just ripe tannins. It should be an outstanding wine and certainly does well in the vintage. " - Jeb Dunnuck
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie La Joie du Palais 2020 Magnum
"Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie "Joie de Palais" 2020, This is exceptionally pretty, indeed blind it could easily pass for a wine of pure Pinot rather than 100% gamay with its cool and layered aromas of various red berries, spice and soft pepper wisps. There is even better refinement to the detailed and minerally if slightly less complex flavors that conclude in a dusty and mildly austere is solidly persistent finish. Lovely." - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie “Clos Vernay” 2020
“A more deeply pitched and slightly riper nose blends notes of poached plum, warm earth and more prominent pepper nuances. There is better density to the beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors thanks to the abundance of dry extract buffering the firm tannic spine shaping the youthfully austere, sappy and seriously long finale. This is excellent and absolutely worth your interest.”– Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie 2020
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie 2020 "The vineyards are Belair and Cercillon. Clean mid purple. No great bouquet first up. Then it starts to builds, with peonies. A little more tension and structure compared to Chiroubles, nicely nuanced in pretty red fruit, good acid balance and persistence." - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burghound
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Chiroubles 2020
"An overtly peppery nose of various dark berries and earth nuances lead to supple, round and relatively refined middle weight flavors that possess an appealing texture thanks main to the fine-grained tannins shaping the moderately firm finale. Note that this could be enjoyed soon after release or held for 5 to 7 years first."- Allen Meadows, Burghound
Domaine de Montille Nuits Saint Georges “Aux Thorey” Premier Cru 2019
"The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Thorey 1er Cru, which is two-thirds whole cluster, has a very focused bouquet of elegant red cherry, raspberry and briary aromas, plus a hint of bay leaf and sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine bead of acidity thanks to the calcareous soils, and displays superb tension and focus toward the finish. A gorgeous, ethereal Aux Thorey." - Neal Martin, Vinous
Domaine de Montille Nuits-Saint-Georges “Aux Saints Juliens” Village 2019
Domaine de Montille Nuits-Saint-Georges “Aux Saints Juliens” Village 2019, "The 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Saints-Juliens exhibits notions of plums, warm spices, orange rind and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, ample and melting, it's supple and perfumed, concluding with a long, expansive finish." - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Domaine du Pelican Arbois Poulsard 2018
"I like the purity and profile of the 2018 Arbois Poulsard, which, like the sample I tasted before, is quite expressive and agreeable, bright and lively, aromatic and open, quite elegant, with some tannins. It's not as funky as many examples of the grape can be. They picked a little early, and the wine is somewhat herbaceous (in a positive way) and only 11.5% alcohol." - Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate
Domaine Trapet Père et Fils Chambertin Grand Cru 2018
"This is aromatically similar to the Latricières but perhaps even a bit cooler and with more earth and sauvage elements. There is a really lovely purity to the sleek, dense, intense and markedly powerful large-scaled flavors that exude an almost pungent minerality on the austere, serious and wonderfully persistent and very firmly structured finale. As the Trapet Chambertin often is, this is not a monster of concentration or structure but rather one of refinement and grace." - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie La Joie du Palais 2019
"Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie "Joie de Palais" 2019, This too is attractively elegant and admirably pure with its even more floral suffused aromas of essence of dark berries that are laced with discreet spice wisps. There is fine volume and delineation to the vibrant and intensely mineral-driven medium weight flavors that firm up as the strikingly long finish sits on the palate. Even so, I suspect that this will be approachable after 3 to 4 years if you enjoy your Bojo on the younger side." - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Chiroubles 2020
"Domaine Lafarge-Vial Chiroubles 2019, Peppery liqueur-like aromas of plum and dark berries precede the sleekly textured, delicious and vibrant middle weight flavors that conclude in a delineated, balanced and impressively complex finale. This possesses fine quality and development potential."- Allen Meadows, Burghound
Domaine Marquis d’Angerville Volnay “Frémiets” Premier Cru 2018
"An overtly ripe yet still reasonably fresh nose combines notes of liqueur-like black berry fruit with those of exuberantly spicy plum and floral scents. The super-sleek, intense and elegant medium weight flavors exude evident minerality on the lacy and refreshing finale that is both sappy and impressively long. This is ripe yet it remains very Volnay in character." - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Domaine Marquis D’Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds 2018
"Perfumed, airy and more high-toned aromas derive more from the red side of the fruit spectrum while displaying pretty touch of spice and exotic tea. The cool and gorgeously textured medium-bodied flavors also brim with minerality on the focused, powerful and particularly firm finale that goes on and on. This is wonderful and I very much like the style and sheer class of this built-to-age Taillepieds.." - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Chiroubles 2018
Offering up inviting aromas of blackberries, cassis and cherries mingled with hints of licorice and grilled meats, the 2018 Chiroubles is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming, with a generous core of lively fruit, tangy acids and fine, powdery tannin. This characterful, classically proportioned Chiroubles is a great success.
Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie “Clos Vernay” 2018
Aromas of cherries, raspberries and plums mingle with hints of burning embers and potpourri in a deep and complex bouquet that introduces the 2018 Fleurie Clos Vernay. Medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, it's layered and succulent, with an ample core of fruit, lively acids and powdery structuring tannins. The inherent charm and suppleness of the vintage lends this considerable appeal out of the gate, but like all the Lafarge-Vial wines, it's really built for a bit of bottle age.
Lafarge-Vial Fleurie La Joie du Palais 2018
Beautifully vibrant and precise, the 2018 Fleurie Joie de Palais wafts from the glass with a pretty bouquet of raspberries, red plums, peonies and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, lively and elegant, it's built around fine, powdery tannins and a tangy spine of acidity. Built for the cellar, this will show beautifully after four or five years of bottle aging, and it will continue to improve for a decade or more.
