Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits-Saint-Georges “Clos Fontaine Jacquinot” 2019, For the last few years Grégory Gouges has made this cuvée from one block near Château Gris, using 50% whole bunches. Rich mid purple with slightly lighter rim. Beautifully lifted nose, but still the prunes in the background. Château Séraphine Pomerol 2020, "This wine is made from 100% Merlot and is being aged in French oak barrels, 40% new, for 12-14 months, with a portion fermented and aging in a 1,000-liter clay amphora. The alcohol came in at 14%. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Séraphine sashays out of the glass with gorgeous notes of candied violets, dark chocolate-covered cherries and raspberry preserves over a core of juicy black plums and fertile loam, plus a waft of truffles. This is a special cuvée introduced last year. It comes from the bottom of the village sector of Les Crots which always has miniature yields and a different style. To reinforce this, the wine is vinified with 50% whole bunches, contrary to the usual Gouges technique. And it shows they can do it if they want to. Lighter color and a more lifted nose with some crushed strawberry. It is very pretty if you like the style, which I do, with a lush ripe finish -Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
