There's a wine out there with your name on it. Not literally, but somewhere in the world, a winemaker has created something that will stop you mid-sip and make you wonder why you ever settled for less.
The problem? Tracking it down.
That's where we come in. Not as another retailer stacking shelves with whatever ships, but as explorers of fine wine, the kind of people who think finding you the perfect wine is a perfectly reasonable way to spend a Tuesday.
From Six Domaines to Eighty-Six (And Counting)
It started in 2000 with a single wine, a 1999 vintage from Burgundy's Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, and a philosophy we've stubbornly stuck to ever since: only import the best.
Back then, the portfolio held six domaines. Today, we work with 86 producers across France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and South Africa. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. Vega-Sicilia. Sassicaia. Château Petrus. Not exactly your corner-store finds. These allocations come from showing up year after year and genuinely meaning it.
South Africa's Red Wines, White Wines: Shorter Flight, Same Standards
We're just as selective closer to home. Producers like Chris Alheit, Duncan Savage, David & Nadia, and Keermont aren't household names yet, but the world is catching on. Their Chenin Blanc is textured and complex, a wine that gives the Loire a genuine challenge. Their red wines offer velvety tannins and the kind of character you won't find on supermarket shelves. These are small-production bottles from winemakers who obsess over every vintage. People we visit, taste with, and trust. The same philosophy, just a shorter flight.
Relationships, Not Just Transactions
We visit our producers at least once a year. Not for the air miles, but because walking vineyards and tasting from the barrel is the only way to really know what you're bringing home. Much of our Burgundy portfolio is nearly impossible to source elsewhere; these are allocations built on trust, not catalogues.
It's one reason top restaurants want our wines on their list. And it's why we take storage so seriously: temperature, humidity, provenance. When a wine reaches you, it arrives the way it was meant to.
As Master of Wine Tim Atkin put it, we cultivate close relationships with suppliers and customers alike. Wine lovers who genuinely enjoy sharing something good.
What Premium Curation Actually Means
Walk into a supermarket, and you'll find hundreds of wines. Most are perfectly drinkable. But you're not here for "perfectly drinkable," are you?
Premium curation is just ruthless editing. We taste a lot, so you don't have to wade through the ordinary. What's left? Only the bottles we'd drink ourselves. Here's what our selection looks like:
- France: Red and white Bordeaux, Burgundy, rosé from Provence, and rising stars from the Loire and Northern Rhône
- Italy: Structured Tuscan reds, refined Friuli wines
- Spain: Age-worthy reds from Rioja and Ribera del Duero
- Germany: Rieslings built for balance and the long game
-
South Africa: Bold reds and textured Chenin Blanc from Stellenbosch, Swartland, and leading Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Upper Hemel-en-Aarde
Collectors hunting rare vintages and weekday drinkers who refuse to settle will both find something to enjoy. Red for the braai, rosé for the afternoon, or sparkling for any occasion worth marking.
For Wine Lovers, By Wine Lovers
We take wine seriously. Ourselves? Not so much. Our tastings are intimate, relaxed, and refreshingly free of pretence. Newcomers and seasoned collectors are equally welcome. We enjoy both the "where do I start?" conversations and the deep dives into verticals.
Life really is too short for bad wine. Browse Great Domaines from the comfort of your home, add something to your cart, and we'll handle the rest. Or contact us directly if you'd like us to provide a personal recommendation. We connect people with products they didn't know they needed, and we're rather good at it.
