Anwilka
Winemaker Matthew Day refers to Anwilka as ''a discovery of an undiscovered wine''.
Anwilka was established in 1997 in partnership with Bordeaux legends and visionaries Hubert de Boüard (co-owner of Château Angélus in Saint-Émilion) and Bruno Prats (former owner of Château Cos d’Estournel in Saint-Estèphe), and between them and Matthew Day, Anwilka is a wine produced with 100 years of winemaking experience.
Anwilka is produced from its namesake estate, located in Stellenbosch’s Helderberg ward, by blending Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Due to the small size of the farm, Matthew and his team are able to focus on the most precise and advanced farming practices, with an emphasis on regenerative and sustainable farming practices in the vineyard, and on vineyard-defined micro-vinification of small batches in the cellar.
Anwilka is, and will continue to carve out its place, as one of South Africa’s very best red wines.
