The Domaine owns 9 hectares mainly in the villages of Morey-Saint-Denis, Gevrey-Chambertin and Chambolle-Musigny. The Ligniers follow the principles of “lutte raisonnée” in their vineyard without the use of herbicides or pesticides. When replanting vines, they use “selection massale” (meaning they replace vines using cuttings from the same vineyards) to ensure that there is continuity in their wines following the same traditions. The same principles apply during vinification: only traditional methods are used that require both a gentle and non-interventionist approach. The Ligniers aspire to make authentic wines that express their own terroirs. Their wines have earned a reputation of being pure, with high concentration, depth and structure.

Domaine Hubert Lignier
Domaine Hubert Lignier, based in Morey-St-Denis, ranks amongst one of the best producers in Burgundy. Neal Martin sums up the wines very well: “These astonishing wines over-deliver in almost every department: elegant, refined, classic, vivacious, poised and intense”.
The Domaine is a fifth-generation family estate that has passed on from father to son. It was Hubert Lignier who put this domaine on the map with a series of remarkable vintages. His son Romain, who tragically passed away due to cancer at the tender age of 34 also did a great deal to bring the family wines to the next level. Today his brother Laurent, still assisted by his father, continues on quietly with the domaine’s pursuit of excellence.
