Olifantsberg Vineyards

Olifantsberg Vineyards, under the guidance of Ferdi and Elizma Visser, is one of the leading estates in the Breedekloof Valley.

Olifantsberg Vineyards, under the guidance of Ferdi and Elizma Visser, is one of the leading estates in the Breedekloof Valley. Elizma, named Tim Atkin’s Young Winemaker of the Year (2021), oversees viticulture, while winemaking is a joint effort between the two. Ferdi manages the commercial side, ensuring the continued growth of the estate.

Situated high on the slopes of the Olifantsberg Mountain, with vineyards planted between 300 and 470 metres above sea level, the estate benefits from cooler conditions that allow for slow ripening and natural balance. Soils of shale and schist, with underlying clay, provide excellent drainage while retaining moisture through the summer months.

The focus is on varieties well suited to the site, including Chenin Blanc, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Roussanne. A minimal intervention approach in both vineyard and cellar allows the wines to reflect the purity and character of this unique terroir.

We are excited to partner with Kevin, Ferdi, Elizma and their team as we continue to grow the Olifantsberg brand.
