Tasting Notes

"This white is fresh with a pronounced mineral character, high acidity and great precision. Its finish is very long, noble and balanced. The fact that the grapes are coming from two regions, Dao and Bairrada, results in a unique blend which develops beautifully in the bottle. The Encruzado from Dao contributes for the perfect balance between sugar and acidity and to the extraordinary structure. Maria Gomes and Bical contribute for the balanced acidity and citrus aromas." - Winemaker's notes

Buçaco Palace, Alexandre Almeida

Commissioned by King Charles I of Portugal as a royal retreat, the Bussaco Palace was built between 1888 and 1907 in Coimbra and remains one of the country’s most historically significant pieces of architecture. In 1917, the palace was turned into a hotel, still owned and run to this day by the family of Alexandre de Almeida.
