Tasting Notes
"Three different Grenache noir vineyards from the Swartland produced the fruit for our 2025 vintage, each contributing their unique characteristics of the final blend. Two of the three vineyards are planted in the Paardeberg - one planted in the early 2000’s and another more recently planted on the north-eastern side of the Langkloof valley, overlooking the Aprilskloof. Finally, Grenache noir from a farm west of Malmesbury with high iron content granite soils was also blended in. Six different pickings were done from these various vineyards to make up the final blend. 71% of the final blend volume was fermented and matured in concrete. The grapes spent a total of 4 weeks on the skins, including pre-ferment soaking, alcoholic fermentation as well as some extended skin contact. We used around 60% whole bunches with regular punch downs and pump overs during active alcoholic fermentation, keeping a minimal and gentle extraction process in mind. One component was fermented with a submerged cap. The wine was pressed off and matured in old 500 L neutral oak barrels, as well as 2 700 L concrete vessels." - Winemaker's notes
